The purple waffle is named for the waffling purple leaves. These aquatic plants will be fine for a couple months fully submerged, but thrives partially submerged in a terrarium or paludarium, for the purple waffle is truly a terrarium species like the aluminum plant. The color is a deep purple and the plant grows slow and requires moderate to strong light. Originally from Vietnam, this species is cultivated in Florida.
