Mandarine Orange Ricefish
Ricefish are similar to killifish but belong to their own genus “Onyzias”. Spread throughout Asia, from China to Japan. The orange speckled ricefish, or “youkihi” ricefish, is bred in Japan to display pretty orange coloring. Ricefish are common in Japan, but the ricefish offered in the aquatic trade are bred to show superior coloration. The orange ricefish is rare. Both sexes are colorful, males have slightly larger fins. Ricefish are sold individually, but do best in a School of six or more.
