Livingstoni Cichlid
Normally the livingstoni cichild, male and female, exhibits a gold and brown mottled pattern similar to the venustus cichlid. This pattern allows the fish to use camouflage to ambush smaller fish in the wild – and in the aquarium. The male when in heat will turn blue – pictured – to attract the female. The Livingstoni cichlids, like the compressicep cichlid, has two scientific names, Haplochromis livingstoni and Nimbochromis livingstoni.
