Australian Giant River Prawn

One of strangest features of any aquarium is the monstrous Giant River Prawn. The River Prawn grows to six inches but develops ten inch forearms with formidable claws. Primarily a scavenger, the giant river prawn will capture and eat smaller fish and invertebrates but leave mid-size fish, such as angelfish, barbs, and discus, alone. The Giant River Prawn are only caught in Australia one month a year and seldom seen in the aquarium trade. The Australian prawn are complete freshwater and completely weird.

In the aquarium the giant prawn will find some driftwood or group of rocks to call home and defend its castle.
