Achara Catfish
Not all catfish look pretty when they grow, but the achara catfish will keep it’s leopard pattern throughout its life. Achara Catfish, or Sailfin Pim, are caught in the Amazon basin on the Peru side, usually about three to four inches. These are peaceful catfish that will grow to 24 inches, and like most catfish they will swallow most edibles that fit in their mouth, including slow moving small fish. These fish have been bred with tiger shovelnose to create a tank hardy catfish that looks more like a classic tiger shovelnose, but the achara referenced here are the real mccoy.
